Ingálvur av Reyni 1920-2005 – Svartur og villur
Fríggjadagin 27. novembur 2009 kl. 17.00 letur upp fyrsta minnisframsýningin við Ingálvi av Reyni. Á framsýningini eru fleiri høvuðsverk, m.a. okkara egnu, verk lánt frá stovnum og privatum í Føroyum, umframt høvuðsverk sum eru lánt frá Statens Kunstfond, Sønderjyllands Kunstmuseum, Randers Kunstmuseum og Vejle Kunstmuseum.
Listfrøðingurin Mikael Wivel dr.phil. hevur í sambandi við framsýningina skrivað bók um listamannin. Bókin er á donskum, føroyskum og enskum og er 288 síður við hópum av myndum.
Mikael Wivel sigur í byrjanini av tekstinum, sum ber heitið Svartur og villur: “Tað var Sámal Joensen-Mikines, ið legði lunnar undir føroyska list, men tað var Ingálvur av Reyni, ið fór longri og legði eitt altjóða støði undir hesa serligu myndlistina.
Hóast teir báðir lógu hvør øðrum lutfalsliga nær, bæði í aldri og við tað, at teir av og á málaðu saman, eru teir úr hvør sínum ættarliði. S.J. Mikines var í hæddini í 1940’ og 50’árunum. Ingálvur av Reyni var í hæddini í 1980’ og 90’árunum. S.J. Mikines kom brestandi inn á pallin við spritti í æðrunum og myndum av higartil ókendari rástyrki. Ingálvur av Reyni kom meira ivandi fram við Guds hjálp og við myndum, ið vóru nakað væl truplari at meta um. S.J. Mikines brendi ljósið í báðar endar, Ingálvur av Reyni helt lív í eldinum, til eldurin logaði so ógvisliga, at sjálvt myrkrið fór at lýsa.”

Framsýningin letur í fyrstu atløgu aftur sunnudagin 20. desembur 2009, men heldur síðan fram týsdagin 12. januar 2010 og endar sunnudagin 28. februar 2010.
Í 2010 fer framsýningin víðari til Kastrupgaardsamlingen og síðan til Vendsyssel Kunstmuseum.

Ingálvur av Reyni 1920-2005 – Black and wild
On Friday 27th November 2009 at 17.00 GMT, the museum will host what will be Ingálvur av Reyni’s first posthumous exhibition. Many of his masterpieces will be exhibited, including works owned by our museum and by The Danish Arts Foundation, Sønderjyllands Art Museum, Randers Art Gallery and Vejle Museum of Art.
Dr.phil. Mikael Wivel has as part of the exhibition written a book available in English, Faroese and Danish. The book is 288 pages and fully illustrated.
Mikael Wivel says at the beginning of the text, which is entitled Black and wild: “It was Samál Joensen-Mikines who created the basis for a national art in the Faroe Islands. But it was Ingálvur av Reyni who took the next step and gave this distinctive Faroese visual art international format.
Although they were relatively close to each other in age – and sometimes painted side by side – each belongs to his own generation. The former had his prime in the 1940s and 1950s, while the latter had his in the 1980s and 1990s. The former came crashing on to the scene with firewater in his veins and pictures of an unprecedented raw power, while the latter arrived more hesitantly, with God at his side and pictures of ever-greater unpredictability. The former burnt the candle at both ends, the latter nurtured the flame until it flared up so powerfully that it made even the darkness glow.
The mayor of Tórshavn, Heðin Mortensen, will deliver a speech.
Mikael Wivel will open the exhibition.
The exhibition’s final day is on Sunday 20th of December 2009, but the exhibition will reopen on Tuesday 12th of January 2010 and ends on Sunday 28th of February 2010.
In 2010 the exhibition will travel to Kastrupgaardsamlingen and then to Vendsyssel Museum of Art.
