July 28th to August 6th
The annual St Olaf's Day Exhibition at the Art Museum of the Faroe Islands opens on the Eve of St Olaf's Day 28 July at 3 p.m.
The exhibition has the title "Unknown", and it is free for the individual artist to interpret and use the title. The idea is to create some sort of communication: both in the artistic approach to the works and the exhibition itself as an inspirational connection between the various works of art, between the works and the guests, and finally the exhibition as a whole.
This year the focus is on uniting the architecture of the exhibition space with the artworks. Seven artsts have been invited to do this, which all work with installation, sound and sculpture: Anna Katrin Øssursdóttir Egilstrøð & Sebastian Edin, Anný Øssursdóttir Djurhuus, Dan Helgi í Gong, Guðrið Poulsen, Heðin Ziska Davidsen and This Is Waa.
In addition to the invited artists, everyone has had the possibility to submit works for review. 70 works by 16 artists have been selected based on their relation to the exhibition as a whole and the title. These artists are Alda Mohr Eyðunardóttir, Ann Mari Dam, Gyða Jacobæus, Heiðrik á Heygum, Jens Dam Ziska, Jón Sonni Jensen, Maria Smith, Martina Sørensen, Ole Wich, Pernille Mejslov, Philippe Carré, Randi Samsonsen, Rannvá Holm Mortensen, Saga Kapna, Tummas Jákup Thomsen and Øssur Johannesen.
The spatial interventions made by the invited artists create new frameworks for the submitted works.
